Welcoming Megan Bent to our Team!

A black and white portrait of Megan Bent. She has pale skin and dark bangs sweeping over her forehead. Most of her face is in a light shadow and the sun illuminates one eye

We are excited to share that Megan Bent has joined the Open Door Arts team as our new Gallery and Communications Specialist!

Megan joins Open Door Arts after being an exhibiting artist with us at the Open Door Gallery at Worcester Art Museum and the Cultural Equity Incubator Gallery in Boston. In her role, she will be supporting the ODA gallery at the Worcester Art Museum, forming a new gallery committee, and creating accessible content for ODA’s communications.

Megan received her BFA in Photography from SVA (NY) and her MFA in Fine Art and Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. As a chronically ill/disabled artist, Megan is passionate about the intersection of art and accessibility. During her MFA she researched and curated her thesis exhibition to be accessible and has incorporated accessibility features into all her exhibitions since.

During the pandemic, she became involved in online accessible events within the disability community. In these community-led DIY spaces, her eagerness and passion to create accessible digital content really took off. Megan is also the Director of  Communications and Digital Access at Inclusive Arts Vermont!
Megan is thrilled to continue working with ODA in this new capacity and get to know the local artistic community in MA better. Learn more about Megan and her art at www.meganbent.com.
